Project Statement: Frames of Anxiety
“Frames of Anxiety” documents the impact of COVID-19 on daily life in
Khuzestan, southwest Iran. Through hospitals, testing sites, and public
spaces, the series captures both the tangible realities and emotional
experiences of the pandemic.
The photographs reveal anxiety, grief, and fear alongside moments of
solidarity, hope, and adaptation. Intimate, human-centered images convey
the resilience of communities navigating lockdowns, social distancing, and
uncertainty.
Rooted in Khuzestan but resonating globally, this project serves as both a
historical record and a reflection on universal human vulnerability and
endurance during an extraordinary crisis.
